Club News - October/November 2010

Good conditions for golf on Saturday 23 October allowed some excellent Stableford score with Dinny Mandalis winning the day with 44 points, Mike Hinton was second with 40 points and Suzanne Greer’s 38 gave her third position. The following Wednesday, 27 October, the good score continued with Suzanne Greer improving on her third winning the day with a 43, Dinny Mandalis was second with a 39 and John Innes finished third with a score of 36 points.

Saturday 30 October saw a large field for the 2010 Championships qualifying round and October Monthly Medal. The Medal was won by Gordon Thomson with a nett 68 Peter Dumbrell fished second with a Nett 71, beating Rod Ashbolt into third and Craig Riethmuller into fourth on count-backs with all three having Nett 71s. The top 4 gross scores qualified for the semi-finals, which were played on the Sunday morning and the finals were played that afternoon. “A” Grade was won by John Seyffer beating Brett Morris 6 & 5. Rick Donaldson won the B Grade Final by beating Dave Purll 4 & 3 and Gordon Thomson was the “C” Grade champion beating Peter Dumbrell 3 & 2. The Women’s Championship was won by Lee Gilbert beating Suzanne Greer 5 & 4 in the final. Congratulations to all the qualifiers and particularly to the 2010 Champions. My apologies to the Women Championship finalists, Lee Gilbert and Suzanne Greer, for not having a photo of them for this report.

Only a small field turned out for the Saturday 6 November competition due to the late 1:00 pm start. The late start was necessary because of a “shot gun start” by a large group that morning. Toto Mesiti won with 40 points, Steve Atkins was second with 35 and Joan Edwards was third with a score of 31.
