Kangaroo Valley Golf & Country Retreat

Our Story

The main building is an historic Woolshed built in 1901 which has been relocated from Uri Park, Darlington Point in outback NSW and lovingly restored to its former glory in 1983 by local Warren Wright. It is home to The Woolshed Restaurant, which can be booked for private functions. Relax around a cosy log fire during the cool months or take in the views and fresh mountain air on our outdoor deck in the warmer months.

The course was purchased by Charles Tarbey in 1998 (still currently owned by one of his entities) and was immediately expanded to an 18 hole championship course which was designed by Jack Newton. The golf course is always a great source of enjoyment for our guests offering a good challenge to experienced golfers and a fun outing for a casual game. Social play and groups are always welcome!

In recent years, Charles has been inspired to create a modern, comfortable and finer dining experience in the Valley. Recently commissioning one of his favourite traditional cuisines—Italian. Under the gifted talents of Chef Marco Salvestrin, KVGCR now presents Osteria La Vallata, where we bring the rich flavours of Italy to the heart of our cherished Retreat.

Stayed for 2 nights this week. We don’t play golf but loved the peace and quiet there. Sunrise was spectacular from our cabin looking over the valley, loved watching the kangaroos emerging in the morning, had to dodge a few wombats in the night in the car, but loved seeing them roaming around. Cabin was very comfy and homey, my style, only one thing grated on my nerves, cushions on outside chairs had African animals and motifs, why not Aussie animals or fauna, this place is a little Australian paradise, promote that more 😁

We thoroughly enjoyed our return to the country retreat. We were greeted with amazing hospitality and friendliness. Our villa overlooked a cut through in the golf course which gave us amazing views from our balcony. The rooms were clean and presentable. I would recommend this place for a peaceful getaway, even if you're not a golf pro!

A good challenging course. Virtually had the whole course to myself. However, next time would take a buggy. As if you want to get your steps up and love walking up hill. This course is for you. I loved the scenery around the course and with some areas needing some work. This course is quite good to play at.

Well maintained golf course with lovely surroundings, attentive staff, kangaroos laying about whilst playing golf I didn't stay but cabins looked homely, Euge will be back!

Got to play 18 holes here on a beautiful day in the valley and this course if fun, challenging and one of the most picturesque I have seen! You will enjoy playing a round here, plenty of hills, dips, water, and interesting greens. Some nice long par 5's and even the par 3's are not the shortest. A very enjoyable outing here indeed!
